5. ročník udílení cen HMMA v Los Angeles

V noci 4. listopadu se v The Fonda Theatre v Hollywoodu konalo udílení hudebních cen ve všech kategoriích, kdy roli uvaděče plnil herec Eric Roberts. Nejvyšší ocenění získal Antonio Sanchez za film Birdman. Vedle něho se stali vítězi například Howard Shore za The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug nebo John Powell se svým Jak vycvičit draka 2. Právě Sanchez začal celou přehlídku svým soundtrackem k Birdmanovi a neopomenul poděkovat Alejandro G. Iñárritovi za vliv na svou práci.

Powell je prvním držitelem ceny za animovaný film od zahájení udílení v roce 2008. Powell na děkovačce zmínil především svou lásku k animovanému filmu, studiu Dreamworks, (režisér) Deanu Debloisovi a (producent) Bonnie Arnold. Podobnou děkovačku předvedl i Howard Shore, který je rád, že může být součástí rodiny kolem trilogií Hobit a Pán prstenů. Jeho OST získalo cenu za nejlepší soundtrack v kategorii sci-fi/fantasy.

Nejlepší píseň v animovaném filmu získal snímek Lego Movie a to se songem "Everything is Awesome". Za nejlepší píseň v hraném filmu získal ocenění Begin Again s "Lost Stars". Vítězové byli zvoleni Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL), televizní Akademií, the AMPAS Music Branch, NARAS, hudebními novináři a manažery. Kompletní seznam vítězů je uveden červeně níže:
